How To Play Tekken 7
How to play Tekken 7 you ask? It's easy! Okay, maybe I'm over exaggerating a bit. It's not easy but with practice and the attitude to play to have fun and learn, instead of playing to win goes a long way with this game.
Most Important Things To Learn
*Movement
*Punishment
*Patience
*Combos
*Sidestep/Sidewalk
*Throw Breaking
*Adjustments
*Poking
*Matchups
Sounds easy, right? Wrong! Just kidding, it's all a piece of cake. Okay, I'll stop. It's not but that's not important. Learn these things in moderation. Do not try to cram this all in one take.
What Should I Learn First?
I suggest starting off with combos. I am only suggesting combos first because you want to have some fun and get familiar with the staple combos for the character of your choice in Tekken 7. So hop in practice and learn your combos. Here is a combo video for Faukumram. These are all of the Faukumram combos you'll need to get started if you decide to pick him up in your Tekken journey. How It Looks All Together
Now that we've gotten that out of the way, let's check out how everything looks all together. So here we have Negan (Yes, the guy from The Walking Dead tv show) vs Dragonuv. Pay very close attention to what is going on in this matchup as a whole. You will notice whiff punishing, non stop movement, throw breaking, poking, etc. Pretty much everything that is in the list above. I want you to think about it as a whole for starters but do not expect to be able to jump right in and play Tekken like this.
Let's Analyze
As you can see, my opponent (Dragunov) had a good edge on me with two back to back wins. This is when the adjustments kicked in and the match became a bit more comfortable to handle. Always understand that you may start off getting the brakes beat off of you in Tekken 7. It can be two matches in a row or it can be ten. What I want you to focus on is your opponents patterns and mistakes. This is when you really start to make progress against a tough opponent in Tekken 7.
Rage
If you are the type to rage (and you probably are), save it for another day. You need to get the the living daylight beat out of you in Tekken 7 and I very much encourage this. This is going to be a very helpful way to improve your matchup knowledge, your mistakes and your self control. I know you might want to throw a tantrum and break your controller at times. DON'T! You need a clear head and playing on tilt is going to cause you to play even worse than you were before the rage occurred. Got key charged? So what. You will most likely meet that opponent again after you have learned the magic of adjusting to a scrubby key charging douche cake and trust me, you will learn and adjust to a key charging douche cake with the right attitude.
So Here Is The Deal
The main thing I want you to focus on here is clearing your mind and preparing for the best experience of your Tekken 7 life. Mindset is important for improvement in the areas that I've mentioned at the beginning of this page. Don't hop in expecting to win all of the time because there is always someone waiting to kill the ego you built just because you won a few measly matches and got a promo. Get it out of your head now. YOU WILL LOSE. PERIOD. Now breath and lets get started baby!
